Super Bowl Prediction

DANG IT ALL! I was 0-2 last week, but, both games were good. Well, the Bears/Saints game was good until the Bears blew it open in the second half… and, well, the Pats/Colts game wasn’t good, (if you are a Colts fan) until the second half. I still can’t believe the comeback the Colts put together to lift the King Kong sized monkey off their backs. As much as I wanted to see the Pats in the Super Bowl, I do believe that the Colts and Bears will provide for a good game.

SUPER BOWL
Chicago Bears versus Indianapolis Colts
Wow, history in the making. Either Tony Dungy or Lovie Smith will be the FIRST African-American Head Coach to win the Super Bowl. I think that this will be a good game that will come down to how well Indy’s D stands up to Chicago’s O! Everyone knows that Indy has an explosive offense, and that Chicago has an awesome defense, but in this post, I want to focus on Indy’s D and Chicago’s O.
Indy’s defense has been excellent in the playoffs, almost like a totally different team when compared to the regular season. Granted, they gave up 34 points to the Patriots, but they still played a heck of a game. They are the reason that the Colts made it to the AFC Championship, because, face it, in the games leading up to the AFC Championship the Colts O looked anemic, and their D stepped up and kept them in the ball game.
Chicago’s O, led by Rex Grossman, has been pretty good in the playoffs as well, and I have to admit that Grossman surprised me in the game against the Saints. I expected him to choke, and choke big, but he didn’t. He looked pretty good.
But pretty good won’t beat the Colts. Not after the game that they played against the Pats. That was one heck of a monkey for Peyton to throw off to get here, and I don’t look for it to come crawling back against the Bears. As good as the Bears defense is, the Colts offense is better, and that will be evident in Miami. I look for Indy’s D to play like they did against the Ravens, and their O to play like they did against the Patriots, while Chicago’s D will play like they did at the beginning of the season, and their O will play like they are capable of playing. But, I don’t think that the Bears have it in them to beat the Colts after last week.
