I am dumbfounded by Mike Huckabee

From cnn.com(CNN) – During a speech before the National Rifle Association convention Friday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky, former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee — who has endorsed presumptive GOP nominee John McCain — joked that an unexpected offstage noise was Democrat Barack Obama looking to avoid a gunman.

“That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he’s getting ready to speak,” said the former Arkansas governor, to audience laughter. “Somebody aimed a gun at him and he dove for the floor.”

If I were to rate the “Huck’s” joke about B.H.O. I would have to give it a rating of “S.F.” for Seriously Funny. It works because it plays off of B.H.O.’s well know hoplophobia, an unreasoning and irrational fear of weapons. The real story is the back channel talk among B.H.O.’s aides that he is facing a potential “cohone-gate” scandal of his own. As any student of American history knows it takes huge cohones to be President of the United States. Nobody questions John McCain’s cohones, and as Democratic strategist James Carville has noted, if H.R.C. were to give B.H.O. one of her cohones he’d have two. In 1988 Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis was ahead of George H.W. Bush by double digits in the polls until it was discovered that he had no cohones. Needless to say he was clobbered in the election. What B.H.O.’s operatives are whispering about is that if the general public ever discovers that their man has no cohones they’ll lose the election in Nov.

I seriously think that making this sort of joke, if you are in Mike Huckabee’s position, is terribly uncalled for, especially considering the fact that he ran for president, and his status as a minister.
