Hi! I'm Sean Power, the community gardener at Akoha. Just wanted to thank you for the great article, and for pointing out one of the most contentious points revolving around Akoha.

I personally believe that Akoha isn't about getting rewards for an act of kindness that I've done. In fact, many people use Akoha as a means to get inspired to perform more acts of kindness in different ways. I don't know about you, but I find that performing an act of kindness on a regular basis can be challenging and even time consuming. By being able to track what other people are doing, it helps inspire me to do something similar. So, I use Akoha as a platform for inspiration.

Secondly, I don't personally play Akoha for points, but some people do. The alternative is to get inspired by killing things in video games for an e-badge. By implementing a points system, we're encouraging each other to compete at making real life better for others.

Don't hesitate to reach out to us on twitter (@akoha) if you have any more questions! :D

@Kim - I love the idea of Akoha, and think that if it helps one person do something nice for someone else, then good for them, but for me, I'll be nice because I am nice, not for 175 points.

You know what? I totally agree. I'm quite the same. I will do random acts of kindness just for the hell of it and expect NOTHING in return. Just the pleasure of helping being or making them smile is good enough for me. My main goal is to make at least 5-10 people smile everyday.
Oh, and yeah, the other day...
I as walking home the other day from an appointment, and someone was trying to parallel park, and I stood there and showed them how far back to go, etc. Once they were in place, I turned around and continued on my way.
I don't need a game to make me do nice things for people.

@Jimmy - Thanks for telling me, somehow I managed to post an Auto-Saved version that I had copied from a previous week (in order to keep the same format).

Some of your picks have the wrong team winning listed. I.E. Cleveland Vs Buffalo - "Oakland Wins", Detriot vs Caralina - "Saints Win".

@eric - I agree, Cassel is doing well, and I, as a Pats fan, knew that BB kept him around for a reason, but after the preseason, I was a bit scared. I'm not nearly as scared now (more afraid of injury rather than talent/skill), as I was when Brady went down... don't get me wrong, I can't wait to see #12 under center again, but for now #16 is doing a good job!
